It's hard to believe it was already two weeks ago. The CCSBE-Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship 2025 Conference, brought together leaders and students from across the country to the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business. On our final day we had the opportunity to see our members share insight on #AI as a learning tool, #entrepreneurial #finance, #strategy and #ecosystems. And the expert panels were incredibly engaging, starting with 'The Perils of Eyes Wide Shut Entrepreneurs-Heeding #VentureCapital Siren Calls', a great discussion with some of the City of Calgary's top entrepreneurs and investors Alan Campbell, Nikhil Bedi and Adrian S. M. Startup TNT, Alberta Enterprise Corporation (AEC), UCeed Investment Funds This was followed by a panel on #Inclusive #EntrepreneurshipEcosystems featuring research and forward thinking strategies from Wendy Cukier, Gina Grandy, Banu Ozkazanc-Pan, Ph.D. and facilitated by Shannon Pestun Overall we could not have been more thrilled with the turn out of educators, entrepreneurs and practitioners in the field. The planning is already underway for 2025, so stay tuned! John MacRitchie Chad Saunders Leah Bortolin Alon Eisenstein Christopher Holt, PhD Wen Teoh Howard X. And that's a wrap. It was the first time in five years that the CCSBE-Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship conference was back in person and what a wonderful event. Thank you once again to the University of Calgary's Haskayne School of Business for hosting us on their beautiful campus. This hybrid event started with a packed online schedule on Day 1, followed by 2 days of in person panels, sessions and incredible networking opportunities. Over the next few days we will highlight some of these sessions and panels. Today we want to celebrate the well deserved winners of the #CCSBE2024 Awards, which were presented at the Gala Dinner. Congratulations to University of Waterloo - United College for their GreenHouse program, whose outstanding supports of social impact entrepreneurs made them this year's choice for The Inclusive Venture Creation and Community Engagement Excellence Award. And a huge round of applause to Dr. Wendy Cukier for decades of world class research and program development including the foundation of the Diversity Institute. We were honoured to award Dr. Cukier the first ever Mary A. Kilfoil Award for Advancing Innovation in Entrepreneurship Education. The heartfelt tributes for Dr Mary Kilfoil from her husband Dr Ed Leach and from Dr. Cukier made the evening extra special and underscored Mary's incredible impact on the #entrepreneurship community.
