CCISONFI Pledges to Enhance Cyber Resilience in Nigeria's Financial Sector The Committee of Chief Information Security Officers of Nigerian Financial Institutions (CCISONFI) is committed to driving advancements in cybersecurity to counter new forms of cyber threats in the financial sector. During the 2024 Annual Conference held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, CCISONFI Chairman Mr. Festus Amede emphasized the urgent need for proactive cybersecurity strategies. He expressed concern over how technological advancements are escalating cyber attacks, jeopardizing sensitive customer data. Mr. Amede called for increased collaboration among stakeholders, including research institutions, to develop robust and innovative cybersecurity solutions. He thanked the Central Bank of Nigeria for its unwavering support in combating cybercrime and highlighted the importance of integrating cutting-edge technologies like generative AI, machine learning, quantum cryptography, zero-trust security, biometrics, behavioral analytics, and cloud security to build a safer financial ecosystem. The conference featured insightful presentations, including one by Mr. Michael Crouse, Director of User and Data Protection at Everfox. His talk, "Insider Threats: Persistence of Hackers and Fraudsters," underscored the importance of understanding employee behavior to prevent internal cyber threats. He urged businesses to foster a culture of collaboration and value employee contributions to cybersecurity. Mr. Chukwuma Chuks Ulu Udensi, CEO of Infodata Professional Services Global, praised the efforts of CCISONFI in tackling cybercrime. He reaffirmed Infodata’s commitment to delivering top-notch cybersecurity solutions and ensuring compliance with governance, risk, and compliance standards. A collaborative agreement between Everfox and Infodata was also announced, aiming to enhance global cybersecurity solutions through a synergy of expert knowledge and advanced service platforms. In his address, Mr. Uche Ifeanyi Henry, Chairman of the Interpol African Working Group on Cybercrime, stressed the need for united efforts to detect and deter cyber threats. As cybercriminals deploy increasingly sophisticated tactics, a collective approach is crucial for effective cybersecurity. The three-day conference covered a range of topics, including maintaining a cyber-resilient strategy, regulatory compliance, data privacy, forensic know-how, the evolution of banking technology, and addressing the cybersecurity skills gap. CCISONFI remains dedicated to guiding its members in navigating the complexities of cybersecurity in the age of emerging technologies. #CCISONFI2024 #CyberSecurity #FinancialInstitutions #InnovationInCyberSecurity
