The Project Team at the Route 288 Widening Project in Midlothian, VA has worked hard to meet major milestones while heading into the winter construction season. Our trade partner, S. L. Williamson Co., Inc., was recently able to lay base pavement on the freshly widened ramp from Rt. 288-S to Rt. 36O-W. This project, when completed, will increase mobility and public safety in a highly traveled corridor. Keep up the great work, team!

About us
Caton Construction Group is a member of The Caton Companies, a successful family owned and operated Charlottesville, VA-based holding company offering diverse services – from development and financing to construction and leasing, to ongoing property and asset management – and boasts some 500 employees in the Commonwealth of Virginia and State of North Carolina. Caton Construction Group is a high-value business specializing in the areas of Roadway and Bridge Construction, Site Development, Pipe Rehab and Jack & Bore, and Commercial Construction. Our philosophy is the same now as it was when Douglas E. Caton, a retired U.S. Army major general, began operations 45 years ago: it’s all about management, no matter the product or service; it takes good people and well-thought-out direction to achieve ultimate performance. Says Doug Caton: “Together, we’re building a great company every day.”

Caton Construction Group, alongside Schnabel Engineering, recently completed the replacement of a 50+ year old concrete auxiliary spillway, and primary spillway gate valve, for the Blue Ridge Shores Community in Louisa, VA! This was a unique project as it required the use of a siphon system, consisting of four (4) 12” siphons, to maintain the lake level during construction of the primary spillway. In total, CCG workers safely & successfully demolished and replaced more than 1,700 cubic yards of concrete, and 135 tons of reinforcing steel. Great work Mark Zimmerman, PMP & team!
