CASA of Northwest Arkansas provides compassionate volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children.

About us

CASA of Northwest Arkansas provides quality volunteer representation for children who have experienced abuse and neglect. We recruit, train, and supervise volunteers with the goal of moving children efficiently through the child welfare system into safe, permanent homes where they can grow to be successful adults. National studies show that a child who has been assigned a CASA is more likely to secure needed services in a timely manner; is moved from placement to placement less frequently; is more likely to have his/her case reviewed regularly by the court; and has a better chance of living in a safe, permanent home than those who do not have CASA representation.

Updates

  • As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on the amazing stories of transformation made possible by supporters like you. Thanks to your belief in second chances, this year alone, CASA volunteers advocated for 119 children, who were ultimately reunified with their families. With over 400 children still in foster care in NWA, we need your help to create more stories like this! Your year-end gift will ensure that CASA volunteers can continue to provide life-changing advocacy. Visit https://lnkd.in/gjrDbWtU to give today!

  • "Every step counts. Whether you take that step yourself or inspire someone else to, you are making a difference. And when each of us takes a step, together, we can go further and continue to have a meaningful impact in the lives of children in our community who most need a champion of their own." - Melanie Boulden, Tyson Foods. Today during our Light of Hope lunch, YOU made it clear that you are ready to take a step and make a difference! Thanks to your generosity and commitment to changing lives in NWA, you raised over $130,000 for young people in foster care in our area! Company matches have not been counted yet, so we anticipate that number will continue to rise!

  • Last night we had the privilege of honoring two amazing advocates with the Duke Service Award. This award was established in 2013 to honor two very special people, Mike and Susan Duke, who have made outstanding contributions toward the advancement of our mission. This year’s recipients have been a part of CASA for the last 10 years. During this time, they’ve moved 29 children (representing 10 families) toward safe, permanent homes. Their combined compassion, humility, humor, optimism, consistency, and commitment to their CASA kids and families is truly inspirational. From tiny babies to one teen in particular who they have served through the duration of their time as CASA volunteers, from pandemic porch visits to cross-state trips, from birthday parties to IEP meetings –  Kara Biggs and Shannon MacNeel are willing to do whatever it takes to support their CASA kids and families. It’s an honor to present them with this award, an honor that they choose to be a part of CASA of NWA, and an honor to know them.  Congratulations!

  • Since 2020, Denton and Cathy Cole Seilhan have consistently and actively supported CASA of NWA and the children, teens, and young adults in our program. Their investment in this work has allowed volunteer advocates from our community to stand alongside hundreds of young people in need. Additionally, Denton is a CASA volunteer himself and has offered individual and meaningful advocacy to eight young people from five different families As Denton and Cathy are recognized this year as Association of Fundraising Professionals NWA Chapter (AFP-NWA)'s Outstanding Philanthropists for their incredible generosity throughout the Northwest Arkansas area, we are honored that they continue to choose to support CASA of NWA, our staff and volunteers, and our CASA kids and families. Congratulations, Denton and Cathy!
