7 Burnout Lies That Kill Your Happiness: (and what to do instead) Burnout steals more than your energy. It shakes your confidence, harms your well-being and destroys relationships. The most dangerous burnout lies: 1. Just work fewer hours: ↳ Burnout is caused by meaningless work and toxic leadership. ↳ Reflect on what's causing your stress. 2. Take a vacation and you'll feel refreshed: ↳ Vacations offer temporary escape but won't fix systemic issues. ↳ Take regular breaks. Address the root causes of your burnout. 3. If you love your job, you can't burn out: ↳ Even dream jobs can drain you without proper boundaries. ↳ Love your work but protect your well-being. 4. Burnout is your problem to solve on your own: ↳ Burnout reflects workplace culture, not a personal failure. ↳ Speak to a mentor, build alliances and create change together. 5. Just push through it: ↳ Pushing harder only deepens exhaustion and damage. ↳ Honour your limits and prioritize rest. 6. If you're burned out, it means you're not strong enough: ↳ Burnout happens to those who care the most. ↳ Your worth isn't measured by how much you can endure. 7. Burnout shows you're dedicated: ↳ Burnout is not a badge of honour. ↳ No one benefits when you burn out. You deserve to thrive, not just survive. Choose yourself and your well-being. Everything else can wait. Which burnout lie have you believed? Let me know in the comments. ♻️ Repost to help someone. 🔔 Follow Dora Vanourek for more.

Host of It Gets Late Early, a show about getting older in Tech and ageism in the workplace | Age Inclusion Advocate I Speaker I Podcaster I Seen in WIRED, Business Insider and Inside Edition | ex-Journalist

You can’t make this stuff up. Just in case you doubt the casual yet blatant bias in tech and society, may I present exhibit 268,359. In the screenshot below are the emoji choices on Slack (owned by small tech player Salesforce) that appear when you search for the word “tired.” Not kidding. But I’m sure there’s no ageism problem in the workplace or the tech industry 🫠 Hat tip to Dana Cruikshank, MPH for surfacing this. No wonder tons of people tell me they dye their hair to get or keep a job… Can someone get me in touch with the fine folks at Slack to suggest they remove “white_haired_man” and the rest from their emoji search results (and also do some anti-bias/anti-ageism training)? — Ps if you care about getting ageism out of our workplaces and society, check out my show and newsletter at itgetslateearly.com. We ride at dawn ❤️ #ageism #agediscrimination #bias #tech
