Where students lead…in Salt Lake City!
The end of the semester at Davis Catalyst is always bittersweet. While it is fun to see kids present on or demo their industry projects, it is sad to see many of them move on to the next part of their educational and career journey. From pharmacy students making chemotherapy medication in the sterile compounding lab to students roofing a tiny house, and many projects in between, it has been a great semester! Students completed 500+ industry projects. BIG shoutout to our many, many industry partners. We simply cannot do it without you! Nothing like announcing an exciting national partnership to get us in the holiday season and fired up for 2025. I look forward to driving profession-based learning to virtual learners via Pearson and the Connections Academy. Remote and medically fragile learners deserve these transformative experiences too! Thank you Mia Bartlett, Casey Welch and Lorna Bryant for embracing CAPS and choosing us for this co-designed journey! #wherestudentslead

Congratulations to Bioscience students, Parker Aucoin, Nahashon Njenga, and Ana Rios, for being selected to participate in this year’s CAPS Network Student Community Health Agency internship program. As a participant, students develop and execute unique projects designed to improve community health while receiving valuable information from professionals as they learn about the 5 pillars of Community Healthcare. The 5 pillars focus on Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Environmental Health, and Social and Behavior Health. Check back over second semester to learn about their progress.

The future of high school is now. #professionbasedlearning #proBL
Rewarding and exciting! Students leading and creating #moments are pillars within the #profession based learning model within the CAPS Network. LAUNCH is a program that brings community resources and coaches with talented educators (Megan Fisher, Stephanie Kelly, Phonekeo Siharath, Ryan Osterberg, Patrick Perez, Micah Nelson, Jim Brennan, Melissa Fogltanz, Emily Barmantje) within Elmbrook Schools to make authentic learning happen. We had about 300 students, 100 projects, and an engaged audience both at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts and watching via livestream thanks to the leadership of Eric Hagen. This programs approach is supported by many and the districts leadership is incredible with special support from Mark Hansen, Emily Grieber, Lisa Rettler, Amie Farley, and so many from District office. This is a great opportunity to transfer learning from both Brookfield Central (Brett gruetzmacher) and Brookfield East (Andy Farley).
