As a building that will make its mark on St. Louis' skyline, the BJC HealthCare Plaza West Tower, part of its Campus Renewal Project, was featured as a First Look in Healthcare Design. Set for completion next year in design-build partnership with McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., BR+A Consulting Engineers and Thornton Tomasetti, the new tower will include seven floors of private inpatient rooms for heart and vascular patients and two floors of intensive care unit bed, along with expanded surgical prep and recovery rooms. To integrate this tower with previous phases of the campus renewal project on the Washington University in St. Louis Medical Campus, the tower’s exterior material palette will include natural limestone, glass, metal panels, and concrete panels. Bringing essential services to patients in a classic Chicago neighborhood was the primary goal of Northwestern Medicine's Old Irving Park Outpatient Center. The resulting space is tailored both to its site and the specific services needed in the Old Irving Park community. A limestone and terra cotta exterior unites the institutional brand with the masonry character of the community. An Immediate Care Center is housed on the ground floor, while multiple specialties as well as lab and imaging services occupy the other clinic floors. 📸 : Laura Peters

St. John's University new St. Vincent Health Sciences Center brings together all current and future health sciences programs under one roof, and is home to hundreds of students in the university’s nursing, radiologic sciences and physician assistant programs. At the very core of the building's design lies a significant multistory common space — an academic hub that will pulsate with life and energy. Serving as the vibrant heart of the program, this sunlit "living room" is a natural catalyst for planned and spontaneous interactions between students and faculty. The Skagit County Crisis Stabilization Center in Sedro-Woolley, Washington aims to reduce the stigma around mental health treatment, starting by building trust and relationships within the community. It will house 48 voluntary, inpatient mental health beds, with 16 crisis stabilization beds, 16 acute detox beds and 16 co-occurring treatment beds. Research into neurodiversity and trauma-informed design principles guided the design team to incorporate a neutral palette with accents of purple, green and wood tones to create a serene environment to ease stress. The facility is expected to open in late 2025. Learn more about this important community health project: https://lnkd.in/gpdi67At
