The voice of Chicago's office building industry since 1902
About us
BOMA/Chicago is a trade association that has represented the Chicago office building industry since 1902. Membership includes 245 commercial offices, institutional and public buildings, and 200 companies that provide commercial building services to support operational excellence. BOMA/Chicago members constitute approximately 80 percent of all rentable office space and more than 98 percent of rentable space in Class A buildings downtown. BOMA/Chicago has played a vital role in advocating on behalf of our members for over a century and continues to be a leader in drafting new building codes, advancing fire and life safety measures, negotiating mutually beneficial labor agreements, and enhancing energy efficiency and sustainability practices. We provide valuable resources that help our members advance Chicago's commercial real estate industry each and every day through continuing education and strategic partnerships that equip our members with the tools and information necessary to confront the challenges and opportunities of our ever-changing industry. Our members also play a vital role in ensuring the economic viability of downtown Chicago. Chicago area office buildings support over 64,000 jobs, and member buildings house more than 647,000 tenant employees and over 18,000 local, national, and international companies. By advocating on behalf of the owners and managers of these buildings, BOMA/Chicago also supports the businesses housed in them--businesses that require quality office space and service. BOMA/Chicago buildings support local schools and public services through more than $1 billion in annual property taxes.

New study confirms: Assessor Kaegi inaccurately over-assesses office (+ industrial & retail) in the city. Relief granted by the Board of Review greatly improved assessment accuracy in 2021. Further confirmation that our property tax system needs reform. https://bit.ly/4guMdfy

We proudly presented the Civic Partner Award to the Chicago Police Department, recognizing their unwavering commitment to public service and their vital partnership with BOMA/Chicago. This year, CPD’s collaboration with our Preparedness Committee and Public-Private Task Force was critical in addressing public safety during heightened protests, international conflicts, and election-related tensions. Their exceptional professionalism was especially evident in preparations for the Democratic National Convention, where they safeguarded downtown Chicago while upholding civil rights. Thank you to Superintendent Larry Snelling and the remarkable CPD leaders who joined us to accept this award. Your dedication ensures the safety of our buildings, tenants, and employees, and we are deeply grateful for your partnership.
