Today, November 15, marks the 30th anniversary of BMW Manufacturing’s official opening. On this day, a white 318i signature car was driven on stage with an excited crowd of more than 1,000 people cheering. It was also the night that traffic on Interstate 85 stopped for a short time due to the greatest fireworks show ever. This week, BMW Manufacturing continued celebrating the 30th anniversary of production with a special event honoring our 30-year associates. Dr. Robert Engelhorn, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing, told those attending, “From the first associates who walked through these doors in 1994 to each colleague standing here today, your commitment, hard work, and belief in what we do has fueled our success. BMW Group celebrated the 30th anniversary of Plant Spartanburg last night at a special event in South Carolina attended by media, stakeholders, and plant associates.    Located in South Carolina, Plant Spartanburg is the largest single BMW manufacturing facility in the world. Each day the more than 11,000 associates who work there assemble 1,500 vehicles for the U.S. and markets around the world. BMW Manufacturing's associates proudly joined Habitat for Humanity of Spartanburg and Habitat for Humanity of Greenville to kick off construction on a BMW-sponsored new home in Greer, SC. This project marks the beginning of a journey to provide a deserving family with a place to call their own within our Upstate community.   At the wall-raising event, the team from Plant Spartanburg rolled up their sleeves, alongside Habitat staff and community members, to bring this vision to life. The BMW Veterans Appreciation Event was held yesterday, November 4, at the BMW Zentrum in Greer, SC. Several DEW employees attended, including DEW Executive Director William Floyd who provided opening remarks. As the recipient of the 2024 Workforce Champion Award, BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC has displayed extraordinary efforts in developing and connecting South Carolina students with educational and employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry. BMW Manufacturing has also participated in several SC Works career fairs and hiring events. Thank you to BMW Manufacturing for supporting our state’s workforce and honoring our veterans!

BMW Manufacturing congratulates driver Rebecca Donaghe and navigator Syndiely Wade on finishing 3rd in the 2024 Rebelle Rally off-road navigation rally! Accumulating 1029 points overall, and 68% of the total points in the X-Cross field, Rebecca and her team piloted the specially outfitted, 4th generation, all-new BMW X3 M50 to a rigorously fought 3rd place podium finish.   This remarkable achievement would not have come to fruition without the commitment and teamwork of Plant Spartanburg’s associates, sponsors, members of the BMW Scholars Program, and colleagues of the BMW Accessory Center involved in the development and outfitting of this versatile vehicle.
