Founder | Using Supply Chain strategies to end social injustice

“I love my job, but it’s more than that: I need it. “ - Beyoncé Knowles-Carter I have spent the last 6 years building what I needed. Creating lifesaving resources, spaces, and partnerships that center wellness and safety for Black and under-resourced communities. To awaken in May to an email congratulating 1M4 on receiving a BeyGOOD Foundation grant, I was floored. Is it possible that THE Beyoncé Knowles-Carter knows who we are??!! I couldn’t quite articulate the gratitude and shock so I just sat there looking at my phone. Then I flipped through photos from the BeyGOOD Foundation Black Parade luncheon last year and vividly recalled the joy and celebration of being surrounded by people committed to creating a better future for themselves and their Community. I watched as the BeyGOOD team members exuded light and were genuinely happy to be there honoring us. I observed how Ivy McGregor , BeyGOOD Executive Director, walked through the crowd greeting everyone with love making each person feel like the only person who mattered in that moment. It was amazing. Thank you to the team at BeyGOOD for seeing 1M4 and investing in our vision of a safer, more well nation. Thank you to the team at Lexus for trusting BeyGOOD Foundation to find and support change makers across the globe. To quote Ivy, “Make Good Louder”, especially right now. We need to see and hear from those of us committed to being and doing good in the world. Please share the good YOU are doing below cause I see you. I want the world to see you too. 💛 #1M4 #therightresponse #beygood #mondaymotivation

  •   Meet Black Parade Route grantee, Rita Bunatal. She’s the unstoppable, creative, and strategic powerhouse behind Malaika Collective; a community-based and culture-driven creative agency based in New York. The idea was sparked back in 2015 while Rita was in college and recognized the disconnect that existed between the African diaspora and the U.S. Her goal was to create a way to bridge that gap.   Almost ten years later, she’s provided a platform for countless Black artists, designers, and entrepreneurs to showcase their talents. When asked how the grant was able to contribute to her dream, Rita expressed the way it helped increase her overall revenue and create opportunities for other individuals when she was able to expand her team.   “The Black Parade Route is a gift that truly keeps on giving.” - Rita Bunatal

  • Poetry is a powerful tool that can both heal and transform. It brings people together through artistic expression, and allows us to tap into our innermost thoughts and emotions. Black Parade Route Grantee, Kevin Benoit, founded Parlé Endeavors to provide opportunities to support youth through the arts, media, journalism, and entrepreneurship. Through his organization, Kevin creates a safe space for youth to find their voice and navigate life through pen and paper. Check out Kevin’s full story on our YouTube channel today.

  • Black Parade Grantee, Veronica Clanton-Higgins is all about staying true to her work, her community, and her home, Compton, California. As the owner of Compton Wellness Collective, Veronica provides mental health and wellness services to those within underserved communities. Through her work, she brings awareness to the critical need to address disparities in mental healthcare for Black and brown individuals.    Systemic barriers can include lack of access to insurance, economic disparities, and distrust of healthcare providers.    Prioritizing our mental health is a crucial matter that requires all of us to do our part in ensuring equitable access to the resources needed to help us thrive. Even without insurance, the resources and communal support we need are available, and Veronica is a prime example of this through her offering of free to low-cost workshops.

  • Congratulations are in order for our South African liaison, Lipalesa Morake, who continues to uplift, empower, and support the next generation.     Recently, Lipalesa was awarded by the Mail & Guardian under the category of Civil Society for their Power of Women award. This prestigious award celebrates 30 years of the positive contributions of women within their community, and across the African continent.     Lipalesa is the Director of Africa Youth Development at Global Citizen, and spearheaded the BeyGOOD x Global Citizen four-year Fellowship program, which provided students with a paid, year-long fellowship with Global Citizen in Kenya, Nigeria, and South Africa.  This was a signature program funded by longtime BeyGOOD collaborator, Tyler Perry, and aimed to equip the students with the skills and tools needed to thrive in any professional environment.    Lipalesa has continued to build long-lasting relationships with each cohort, where she focuses on storytelling tactics that shift attitudes, and impacts how innovation is viewed in a constantly changing world.

  • The Black Parade Route started in 2020 to celebrate business owners and communities. Four years later the Route is stronger than ever! Along the way, we have met so many inspiring individuals, and it’s been our absolute privilege to bring their inspiring stories to you. Today, we’re featuring Tyree Boyd-Pates, Founder of NOMMO Cultural Strategies. Through his Los Angeles based consultancy, he advises leading companies and organizations on where culture meets strategy, through a focus on African-American art, history, and culture. Boyd-Pates believes that, “If we want to continue Black history, we have to support Black businesses,” and he’s absolutely right. Through both his entrepreneurial and educational endeavors with local communities and children within the Los Angeles area, Boyd-Pates is the perfect reflection of BeyGOOD’s founding pillars and principles. Through his unwavering commitment to uplifting the Black experience, he is cementing his place in Black history, and we’re honored to be part of his legacy of GOOD. Check out his interview below, and let’s continue to support the businesses that are changing the future for us all. #BlackParadeRoute #BlackBusinessMonth
