These individuals often lag behind average managers in key areas: strategic planning, authenticity, coaching skills, and recognition. Ineffective management negatively impacts performance, retention, motivation, productivity, and belonging. Laszlo Bock, BetterUp advisor, co-founder of Humu, a Perceptyx Company, and former CHRO at Google, cites Gallup data that estimates poor management costs US companies at least $960 billion annually. However, new managers can bridge this "greatness gap" with targeted coaching.
