I have no drivers license and so it's been a hardship lately." "Rides are super expensive. So having free ones really helped me save some extra cash. I had two last week. And both days totaled almost $60." "I no longer have to worry about money when I'm planning my appointments. This Lyft pass has definitely made life so much easier." More importantly, it ensured that mothers got to their appointments. "The Lyft pass has been a godsend this last month. My car currently needs repairs that are take to time to pay for so I have been using public transportation to get around. The Lyft pass has provided me relief about how to get to and from my appointments that are now every two weeks." "The free Lyft pass made it easier to get to my appointments on time. I have not missed any appointments since I've had the free Lyft pass from babyscripts." But perhaps the biggest benefit was the relief from anxiety: “I felt less worried about being on time. I felt like I could focus on my appt and my twins. I felt no stress since my transportation was taken care of. It made it so that I had one less thing to worry about. Access to prenatal care is one of the primary indicators of maternal health outcomes. Leveraging existing infrastructure to get women to their appointments and reduce no shows is a no brainer. “At least in the urban setting, [some] patients don't have cars … So the only other option would be public transportation. And if they had to make the conscious choice of like, I'm going to go into work and get my shift done, or, take a half a day or full day off, for what ends up being a 20-minute appointment? These tools should be available with no out of pocket cost to the patient. 👉 Self-monitoring tools enable women to take charge of their own health. 👉 Strengthening and supporting reimbursement of care is critical, from pre-conception through all phases of pregnancy through first year postpartum. 👉 Integrated telehealth models for maternity care services enable new approaches to person-centered care.

It was a special moment to meet Linda Jiang and the Lyft healthcare team in person at National Association of Medicaid Directors in Washington, D.C., the same city where we’ve been working together to address transportation insecurity for pregnant women. Over the past few months, Lyft provided almost 1,000 free rides to Babyscripts users, helping those who face challenges getting to their prenatal and postpartum appointments. It’s been a meaningful partnership focused on improving access to care for expectant mothers.
