At B Lab, we believe rest is a radical act—and essential for driving meaningful change. This holiday season, our offices will be closed from Dec. 23 through Dec. 27 to give our team time to recharge, reflect, and connect with loved ones. Supporting the well-being of our colleagues is core to our mission, because building a better future starts with taking care of ourselves and each other. We hope you take the time to recharge and reflect, and we wish you all a restful festive season. ✨

B Lab reposted this
"While it’s true that the path 'from corporate activism to progressive outcomes may not be as short or as straight as its proponents had hoped', the path itself remains clear." In a letter to the Financial Times, B Lab UK's executive director, Chris Turner explores why the shift towards stakeholder capitalism represents a long-overdue transformation. What are the key takeaways? ❌ The rise of stakeholder capitalism isn’t about “wokeness” or posturing—it’s an increasing number of CEOs recognising that shareholder primacy is outdated. As Chris stated in his article, "The view that this could be driven by 'wokeness' is misguided. Nor can the emergence of stakeholder capitalism reasonably be construed as 'virtue signalling'". ✅ Thousands of B Corps worldwide are proving that balancing profit with purpose drives real results, including higher turnover and improved staff retention. 🚨 While individual corporate decisions are important, the shift remains fragile without structural accountability. That’s why the Better Business Act campaign is pushing to amend Section 172 of the Companies Act, ensuring businesses consider people and the planet alongside profit. 🔑 Stakeholder capitalism benefits both business and society. By embedding it into corporate law, we can make this progressive shift permanent. Let’s champion a business world that works for everyone. #BetterBusiness 🔍 Read the full letter: https://lnkd.in/eqd8sPGs Read the original article Chris responded to: https://lnkd.in/egFuYrpw

In a traditional economy, wealth and decision-making are often concentrated at the top. But B Corps are creating a more inclusive approach. Whether through employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) or cooperatives, #BCorps are changing the narrative around business ownership, creating wealth for employees and fostering a more inclusive and democratic business environment. This shift is key to building a more equitable economy, where power and wealth are more evenly distributed, and everyone has a chance to succeed. Discover how B Corps are using employee ownership to drive success and create lasting impact. As Mary Portas OBE—businesswoman, activist, author, and founder of Portas Consultancy & Agency—explains in her book Rebuild, we’re entering a new era: the Kindness Economy. This new economy moves beyond "more, bigger, faster" to a value system where businesses enrich our lives, contribute to social progress, and respect the planet. The #BCorp movement is leading this transformation, showing that businesses can thrive while making a meaningful impact. As a community, B Corps are creating a kinder, more inclusive, and equitable economic future—where success is measured by businesses' contributions to people and the planet, not just their bottom line. 💡 Explore how B Corps are bringing the Kindness Economy to life at bcorporation.net Photo Credits: Sally Crane

Take the Good News Store during B Corp Month: 130+ B Corps joined forces, attracting 3,000+ visitors and generating 90M impressions.
