After much hard work from the community, the Austin Transit Partnership, the City of Austin, and CapMetro, Phase 1 of Light Rail implementation is moving forward in our great city. Read the entire press release at atptx.org.

Austin Transit Partnership and AECOM are all in on Austin Light Rail. This week, we launched a collaborative Delivery Partner contract that will help bring the first light rail transit system to Austin. This innovative delivery approach will help drive execution of this landmark project, which includes a 9.8-mile light rail system with 15 station stops constructed across the city core. By sharing in program risk, both of our teams are incentivized to work together in the community’s best interests to achieve successful outcomes. Upon completion, the Austin Light Rail is expected to link communities, enhance mobility, reduce congestion, and transform the landscape of Austin. We hope to accomplish this while also driving economic growth and uplifting local businesses, protecting Austin’s environment and unique culture, as well as promoting a sustainable future for generations of Austinites to come.   A special thanks to our project partners: Ardmore Roderick CAS Consulting & Services, Inc. Austin Light Rail is underway—upcoming contracting opportunities for final design and construction.

Propelling Austin Light Rail forward requires collaboration among our stakeholders including the community and industry partners. ATP appreciates the opportunity to highlight the momentum underway to build more transit options for Austin.

ATP Executive Vice President of Architecture & Urban Design, Peter Mullan, joined architect Ben van Berkel in conversation about the synthesis of architecture and infrastructure in urban design, following van Berkel’s lecture, “Transformational Cities & Places of Tomorrow,” hosted by Design Austin, at the Paramount’s State Theater. Ben van Berkel is the founder of innovative global architecture and urban design practice UNStudio, part of the team contributing to Austin Light Rail. Transit and design enthusiasts heard the design innovator share his perspectives about how transit is a key component of a regenerative and optimistic future for cities both here in Austin and globally. As Austin Light Rail Phase 1 advances, ATP thanks Design Austin and UNStudio for the opportunity to share insights into how design can enhance and shape the form of our city.

Tomorrow is the August 20 deadline for ATP’s Delivery Partner RFQ, and early submittals are encouraged.    The Delivery Partner will work closely with ATP throughout project delivery, from contract mobilization through design, construction and preparation for service.     For more information, visit https://lnkd.in/gKHq7G-U.
