  • On December 11th, Austal USA welcomed LtGen Eric Austin, Deputy Commandant of Combat Development and Integration (DC, CD&I), at the company’s Mobile, Ala. shipyard. During the visit, LtGen Austin met with several members of Austal USA’s senior leadership team for an overview presentation followed by a tour of the steel line, module manufacturing facility (MMF), and EPF 15. We were honored to have the opportunity to show LtGen Austin our talented workforce and modern facilities that are currently supporting the LCU program. We’re proud of our accomplishments to date, diverse portfolio of work we’ve put together, and look forward to continuing to be a key component of the Nation’s shipbuilding industrial base.

Austal USA had the pleasure of hosting Mr. Christopher Miller, Executive Director, Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), at Austal USA earlier this month. Mr. Miller, joined by RDML Robert Dodson, Deputy Commander, Supervisor of Shipbuilding, and RDML Ben Reynolds, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Budget, toured the shipyard’s facility and discussed the company’s portfolio of design and shipbuilding contracts. During his tour, Mr. Miller witnessed the production of both steel and aluminum ships in the company’s 867,000-square-foot module manufacturing facility. This was Mr. Miller’s first visit to Austal USA, providing him a firsthand look at the company’s state-of-the-art module manufacturing facility which houses separate steel and aluminum assembly lines where there are four steel ships and one aluminum ship under construction, as well as aluminum aircraft elevators for US Navy Ford-class aircraft carriers (CVN 80 and 81). The group continued on to the final assembly bays where two U.S. Navy Navaho-class Towing, Salvage and Rescue Ships (T-ATS), Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF) 16 and a U.S. Navy Landing Class Utility vessel are all being assembled.

  • Austal USA welcomed VADM Tom Allan, U.S. Coast Guard Deputy Commandant for Mission Support, to the company’s Mobile, Ala. ship manufacturing facility for the first time last week. Vice Admiral Allan was joined by Rear Admiral Mike Campbell, Director of Acquisition Programs, Program Executive Officer (CG-93). While onsite, they toured the shipyard’s manufacturing facilities, including the site where the new 192,000 square-foot final assembly structure is being built, and discussed the company’s progress on the Coast Guard’s Heritage-class Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) program. Austal USA leadership provided an update on the production activity in the company’s highly automated steel shipbuilding production line and the new final assembly building (FA2) complete with a shiplift capable of launching and recovering the OPC. The company broke ground on FA2 this summer, which is scheduled to be operational in 2026.

This Thanksgiving season, we’re incredibly thankful for the generosity of our employees and the support of our community! Members of our Austal USA team went above and beyond by donating turkeys and canned goods to Prodisee Pantry and Fat Boys Grilling – two of the many great local charities. Thank you for spreading some holiday cheer!
