Welcome Wayne Silby to Ashoka’s E2 Network! Wayne is a pioneer of impact investing who transformed investment strategies beyond pure financial returns. He co-founded the Calvert Fund in 1976 and converted it into the first socially responsible mutual fund in 1982, screening investments for environmental and social criteria. By 2017, Calvert managed over $35 billion in assets. Wayne also founded the Calvert Foundation for impact investing and Social Venture Circle, a network for socially conscious entrepreneurs. Wayne sees the urgent need for education to empower young people and prepare them for our rapidly changing world. As a member of Ashoka’s E2 Network, Wayne will partner with Ashoka’s and the world’s leading social entrepreneurs to ensure that schools and teachers are equipping young people to become changemakers. We’re looking forward to collaborating! Ashoka's E2 Network brings together high-level business and social entrepreneurs to create solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges. Did you know that despite the stated importance of sustainability to commercial success, only 37% of senior leaders believe sustainability is “very integrated” into the core of their business? Across the globe, employees like Annette, Impact Finance Manager at Philips, and Fernando, Global Head of Talent Acquisition & People Growth at Boehringer Ingelheim, are challenging this fact. Annette and Fernando’s stories are part of a broader movement highlighted in Ashoka Changemaker Companies series. They are among the growing number of employees empowered to create #socialimpact directly from within their organizations. With support from their companies, they’re mobilizing colleagues, pitching ideas to management, and redefining their roles to align personal passions with purposeful, real-world impact.
