🎉 Happy Anniversary to the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act! For a decade, ABLE programs have empowered individuals with disabilities to save for a brighter future. We’re proud to support 23 ABLE programs across 22 states and the District of Columbia. Thank you to our incredible partners who helped make the ABLE programs a reality.  Join us in celebrating this milestone and spreading the word about the transformative impact of ABLE savings accounts. Here’s to the next 10 years of empowering brighter futures. #ABLE #FinancialEmpowerment

One of the best things about my job is that it’s all about helping people achieve life goals. Behind every account that we service is a story of someone who aspires for a better future. As we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Stephen Beck, Jr. Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) Act, I’m reflecting on our work with ABLE accounts.     Medical and accessibility advances have helped individuals with disabilities improve their quality of life, but financial hurdles remain, particularly when it comes to saving assets for the future. When the ABLE Act passed into law in 2014, it solved a longstanding problem for people with disabilities: how to save and invest money for disability-related expenses while preserving benefits.     A terrific group of advocates, states, and administrators came together to work collaboratively to bring these programs into operation. I remember well the first multi-state meeting, generously hosted by Illinois in downtown Chicago. It was the first of many working meetings that ultimately led to multi-state collaborations that enabled swift and efficient implementation of state ABLE programs. Most of those remain today, offering high-quality ABLE programs to many thousands of individuals across the United States. Many successful single-state programs were launched as well.    Approximately 160,000 individuals have taken advantage of ABLE, but that is only 2% of the 8 million that are eligible today. The eligible number will grow to 16 million as of January 2026 when the age of onset grows to 46. There’s much work to be done. On December 18th, the ABLE National Resource Center is hosting a special anniversary webinar. I encourage everyone to watch ABLE account owners and their family members share powerful stories about the transformative impact of ABLE on their lives.    Ascensus is proud to support 23 ABLE programs across 22 states and the District of Columbia. Together with these states, we’re developing national partnerships to improve awareness so that more people with disabilities benefit from ABLE.     On this 10th anniversary we encourage ABLE savers to keep saving and hope more eligible individuals and families will join them!

On this International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we’re proud to share our progress toward creating an inclusive and accessible workplace for all.  Through the work of our Accessibility Advocacy Network Associate Resource Group, we’ve made captions a standard feature in meetings, ensuring a more accessible experience for everyone. We’re also breaking down barriers and fostering a culture of diversity through partnerships and a strong focus on disability inclusion, including neurodiversity.    By equipping leaders with resources to better understand and support all associates, we’re driving change and building a workplace where everyone can thrive.
