The Class of 2025 installations are happening now, bringing local artists’ work to life on billboards and giving our community access to art 24/7—all thanks to our amazing billboard (ad space)partners. But we need YOU to keep the momentum going. https://lnkd.in/gRT2pQsj Your support helps us provide more than just exposure. We also empower artists with small business education, selling opportunities, honorariums, mentorships, and more—ensuring their creative journeys lead to sustainable success. We’ve raised $173k of our $600K needs to fund these efforts, but we can’t do it alone. Every gift matters—big or small. Whether you’d like to become a fiscal sponsor, an individual donor, or a monthly supporter, we’d love to share how you can help us make an impact on local art and artists. Let’s work together to build a thriving arts community! https://lnkd.in/gaKkJE_q #donations #support #publicart

VIP Guest Designer Daniel Gonzalez Model Jarin S. Billboard Artist Doris Barahona Cover photo by Robb Webb Photos 3,4,5,6,7,8 by Lauren Gibson Photos 9,10 by Rico Marcelo Venue:Sullenberger Aviation Museum During the event's pre-show VIP Hour, our VIP guests were treated to an exclusive talk and presentation by Daniel Gonzalez, a Colombian American womenswear designer based in Charlotte, NC. Daniel began as a ballroom dancer, making costumes for his partner and other dancers and quickly evolved from ballroom to ball gowns. Today, his brand offers a seasonal ready-to-wear collection that carries women from the office to the opera with effortless elegance and timeless style. Daniel showcased his craft during the VIP hour, having reimagined Doris Barahona Burton's billboard vinyl. Manipulating the vinyl into ruffles and spirals, Daniel created the illusion of a flowing gown wrapped in delicate tentacles. The colors from Doris's artwork inspired a nod to the graceful and adaptive octopus, perfectly represented by Model Jarin Simmons who floated down the runway. It’s #FashionFriday ! Designer, Model, & Artist : Will White Cover photo by Robb Webb Photos 3,4,6,9 by Lauren Gibson Photos 5,7,8 by Rico Marcelo Venue: Sullenberger Aviation Museum We are so excited to share the exceptional designer who closed out our September runway show. He was voted Charlotte’s best designer just this year in Queen City Nerve , and we can’t agree more. The triple threat: billboard artist, designer and model! Returning designer and #ArtPopCLT class of 2023 Artist, Will White Junior! This year, Will took inspiration from his prior design (that he himself modeled on the billboard art) adapting a towering hi-lo mixed print kimono worn over and above the shoulders to create a fantastical, and unexpected silhouette. The concept kimono adds to his stage presence and represents both his billboard watching over Charlotte, and flight as a nod to the Sullenburger Aviation Museum venue. The main look pairs a chimney-flared pant fitted through the hip with a floor hem and a sleeveless oversized swing Kimono with a contrasting collar. For the final touch, Will created a whimsical tote in the shape of his cat “LeFrye Tyrell Daddy White,” who passed away at the top of the year after being Will’s design assistant and right hand for 12 years. Will says “This one’s for you Frye Daddy!” Will’s charisma and stage presence as well as his impeccable design work have solidified him as a crowd favorite, and it’s easy to see why.

Designer:Sarah Grace Model: Summer VanGastle Artwork: Emily Batson Cover photo and slides 6,7 by Robb Webb Photos 3,4,8 by Lauren Gibson Photos 5 by Rico Marcelo Venue:Sullenberger Aviation Museum Sarah Grace values sustainability and considers it to be an important part of the design. She aims to reduce waste by using second-hand fabrics and materials, as well as repurposing her remnants. This desire and experience working with repurposed materials makes her an ideal designer for our annual Upcycled FashionShow. After such a strong showing last year, she was a highly anticipated return designer. Her look here is a two-piece gown inspired heavily by Emily Batson's billboard artwork. She wanted to bring Emily's tree to life and emphasize how nature is such an essential part of her design process. Featuring a drop waist corset top with an open slit along the skirt, the dress surprisingly flows in the breeze reminiscent of the tree's branches. The gown worn superbly by model @summervangastle is completed with golden flowers decorating the bodice and branching up off the shoulder. The floral design was created using collected plastic bottles which were cut, painted, and pieced into flowers. The outfit is completed with gold accessories and a stunning arm cuff which was designed and created by Jill Melyssa, a sculptural jewelry designer, and newly announced as a #ArtPopCLT class of 2025 artist.
