Because if you get a complaint and a reviewer asks, "Where'd that assertion come from?", you'll need to lay hands on the evidence. If your workfile is in order, that'll be a snap. "If you see it, save it," says Josh Walitt. Meaning: if you see it in your research, save it in your workfile.
