Amputee Coalition's Ashlie White co-emceed the annual Show and Tell session at the National Health Council's #WRR2024, Nicole Ver Kuilen presented on the So Every Body Can Move campaign, and Shree Thaker spoke on a panel about how lived-experiences stories from Certified Lead Advocates are the most resonating social media content with congressional members currently. Nicole's presentation was an opportunity for advocates across health spaces to share the legislative and regulatory wins and challenges experienced over the past year and to cheer each other on in the fight to improve access to healthcare #AmputeeCoalition #NationalHealthCouncil #Amputee #Amputees #AdaptAndOvercome #LimbLoss #LimbDifference #DisabilityAwareness #InclusionMatters #NoAmputeeAlone #LimbLossCare #Advocacy #Advocate #AmputeeSupport

Earlier this year, the Department of Transportation (DOT) released proposed rules for air carriers to ensure that passengers using wheelchairs and other assistive devices can travel safely and with dignity. The DOT received nearly 2,000 comments providing feedback on the proposed rules from individuals and organizations, including The Amputee Coalition. You can read our comments here: https://okt.to/ra0xqW These rules, which were finalized on December 16 and will go into effect on January 16, 2025, require airlines to provide annual hands-on training for their employees and contractors who physically assist passengers or handle passengers’ wheelchairs or scooters. Airlines are also required to take specific actions when a wheelchair is damaged or delayed during transport to ensure the safety of passengers. Airlines must also provide safe and dignified assistance to people with disabilities, provide prompt assistance during boarding, deplaning, or getting to a connecting flight, and return wheelchairs and other assistive devices to passengers in the same condition they were received. #DepartmentofTransportation #WheelchairProvision #AssistiveDevices #InclusiveLearning #InclusiveTravel #InclusiveTransportation #TravelwithDignity #AmputeeCoalition #AmputeeSupport #AmputeeLifeStyle

Quick Survey: Your Input on Prostheses Use Makes a Big Impact We’d love your input! The Amputee Coalition is looking to learn more about how prostheses are used for showering and bathing within our community. If you use a prosthetic device for showering or bathing, we’d greatly appreciate it if you could take a few minutes to complete a short survey. Your feedback will help us better support you and others with limb loss and limb difference. Plus, the insights we gather will shape our policy priorities and inform the So Every BODY Can Move legislation nationwide.
