WE’VE CRACKED IT! The Amogy team has successfully sailed the world’s first carbon-free, ammonia-powered maritime vessel. Retrofitted with our ammonia-to-electrical power system, the NH3 Kraken—a 1957 tugboat originally equipped with diesel generators and electric motors—took its historic maiden voyage on the Hudson River, powered by green ammonia, emitting zero carbon emissions. A gigantic shoutout to our extraordinary team for working tirelessly to make this ambitious vision a reality. This achievement is not just a win for us but a significant step forward in the journey towards a greener, more sustainable future. The shipping industry is taking significant steps toward adopting low-carbon fuel alternatives in order to meet the International Maritime Organization's goal of reducing emissions by 40% by 2030. A critical component of this #cleanenergy transition is educating the maritime workforce about these alternative fuels. As clean energy sources like #hydrogen and #ammonia gain prominence, approximately two million seafarers will need comprehensive training to develop the specialized skills required for safely and efficiently handling these alternative fuels. Learn more about the industry’s ongoing efforts towards a safe and #carbonfree future in this Reuters article by journalist Mike Scott: https://lnkd.in/eryBNgNk
