Fishmas is upon us! For yet another year, AmeriGas joined forces with one of our favorite people - Mike McKinstry, host of TV’s “The Bassquatch Hunter, Fish Out of Water” - to fulfill a holiday wish in the 12 days leading up to Christmas. We gifted an amazing organization, Open Door Outreach Center in Detroit, MI, with one of their most desperately needed items, a new gas stove. Open Door provides a food pantry as well as holiday meal distribution, but noted that those things only go so far if a household doesn’t have a stove to help them cook those warm, wholesome meals for their family, and we were happy to help solve that problem. Open Door’s mission is to provide a wide range of emergency services to people in need while recognizing the human dignity of everyone it serves. Each Fall, AmeriGas teams up with our UGI colleagues for our annual charitable giving campaign benefitting the United Way. This September, we raised nearly $340,000 to improve lives and communities by supporting the United Way’s diverse initiatives to benefit the common good, but we are even prouder to share that we had an employee participation rate of 76%! Our employees care deeply about giving back to the communities we live in and serve, and they showed up in a big way to make this year’s fundraiser a success. In October, our focus shifted to breast cancer education and research, along with a series of “Pink Out” events hosted by our Women’s Impact Network (WIN), which raised more than $7,000 for the cause. This Veterans Day, we’d like to honor the monumental courage and extreme sacrifice made by the members of our armed forces in defense of our country and our freedoms. News cycles move fast, but rebuilding after natural disasters like Hurricanes Helene and Milton moves slowly, requiring time, money, and ongoing effort. At AmeriGas, we plan to continue aiding impacted communities and customers in every way that we can. To support recovery efforts on a large scale, we are proud to donate $100,000 to the American Red Cross, an organization with a respected, long-standing history of providing emergency response, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education. Thank you, Operation Airdrop Inc, for teaming up with us once again to deliver much needed propane tanks to West North Carolinians impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Helene. A delivery of 600 propane grill tanks generously donated to us to fill by our partner Worthington Enterprises will now power a fleet of temporary RVs sheltering families as they rebuild their homes and their lives after the storm. And a special thank you to our AmeriGas techs, Andy Powell and Oscar Espino for their hard work in making these deliveries a reality.
