Based in McLean, VA, meet our Lead Engineer, Will McAlarney! 💭 What is your role your role at AREP? ✏️ As a Lead Engineer, I am responsible for all operations pertaining to the building at 1660 International Drive. My main objectives are to maintain and improve the property, be a warm, friendly, and knowledgeable liaison between the customer and management, and be a steward for safety of all occupants on the property. I contribute to building and managing an operational budget for 200k sqft of office space and nearly equivalent of garage and asphalt. 💭 What's your favorite part about working at AREP? ✏️ My favorite part of working at AREP is the wonderful people I get to work with on a daily basis. There are so many bright minds, unique stories and personalities, and quite a diverse set of skill sets. AREP strives to be different and provide a welcoming culture where everyone can grow and thrive. 💭 What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work? ✏️ I enjoy being outdoors, exploring, adventuring, and breathing in the fresh air. My current favorite hobbies are snowboarding, woods riding my dirt bike, and hiking. I try to make a trip out West at least once a year and have been to several ski resorts in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming, in addition to Vermont, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. My most recent trip was to Glacier National Park in Montana in which I drove the Going to the Sun (highly coveted cliffside road through the park) 3 times, hiked to the top of Logan Pass, horseback rode through the mountains, cliff dived into a glacier-fed river, drove a UTV through the mountains, and star-gazed free from light pollution in the middle of nowhere. Glacier National Park is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen featuring a few mostly undisturbed turquoise-blue water fed by glaciers. 💭 What's the best piece of advice you've been given that you would pass along to someone else? ✏️ A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. 💭 Do you have any winter plans you're looking forward to? ✏️ Poconos trip with the family, with snowboarding and a large indoor waterpark.

We’re thrilled to celebrate a major construction milestone with our partners Hoar Construction and Cooper Carry for CityHouse Old Town, a landmark office-to-residential conversion in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. 🚧 This milestone marks the structural completion of 1101 King Street, and the significant progress made in transforming this iconic seven-story building into a premier luxury rental property. Placing the lowest steel beam as part of this milestone is yet another reason this project is so unique!
