Tonight on the winter solstice, #TheLongestDay participants across the country will display luminaries 🕯️ in windows and doorsteps to raise Alzheimer's awareness. We thank all of them for sharing why they're fighting to #ENDALZ. #WinterSolstice.

When Jennifer Adzima Ciuffo's mom was diagnosed with dementia, she found strength through fundraising for #TheLongestDay. Her office's “Blue Jeans Day” led to a successful mocktail party 🍹 that raised over $1,700 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Beyond the funds, she discovered a community of support among her colleagues. Jennifer’s story is a reminder that no one has to face Alzheimer’s alone. 💜 Read more about her story and get the recipe for her signature mocktail, Berry, Merry and Bright, here: https://lnkd.in/epmEvJDR. #ENDALZ

“The continued generosity and support from the Napa Valley community means so much to me, my family and to millions of others." On Saturday, winemaker Kerrin Laz hosted the sixth annual Winter Wine & Food Fête, part of the Inspire Napa Valley series. In total, the series has raised to more than $7.5 million for Alzheimer's care, support and research. More than 250 guests enjoyed a VIP lunch that highlighted current and library offerings shared by top vintners and wineries, followed by a walk-around wine tasting. Thank you, Kerrin, for continuing to strengthen the fight to #ENDALZ in honor of your mother and all those impacted.

HOLIDAY TIPS ❄️ The holidays can be a challenging time for families living with Alzheimer's and other dementias. But with some planning and adjusted expectations, your celebrations can still be joyous occasions. Here are some tips ⬇️ 📞 Arrange for a group discussion for family and friends to discuss holiday celebrations in advance. Update them on changes they may see in the person living with dementia. Tell them they can help with communication by being patient, not interrupting or correcting, and giving the person time to finish his or her thoughts. If the person cannot communicate clearly, respond to their tone. 🕘 When making holiday plans, consider what will be most comfortable and enjoyable for the person living with dementia, while keeping safety in mind. Maintain the person’s normal routine as much as possible, so that holiday preparations don’t become disruptive or confusing. ⭐ Build on traditions and memories and experiment with new traditions that might be less stressful or a better fit with your caregiving responsibilities, such as watching seasonal movies. Get more tips at https://lnkd.in/g4PWG4M.
