Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of wearing many hats within the #financialservices industry: from banker to financial advisor, wholesaler, and most recently, building distribution teams at KKR and other GPs. One constant: My fixation on making #privatemarkets more accessible. Where did it come from? It all traces back to my father, a proud FDNY firefighter. Growing up, I was always curious about why many of his colleagues were able to retire with over-funded pensions. The answer? Their pension plans were invested in private markets. This realization sparked something in me: the need to level the playing field and provide more people with access to the outcomes that private markets offer. Since then, I’ve been excited to see the evolution of evergreen investment strategies and their impact. “Quite honestly, we were trying to solve for the impossible: how do we get rid of those choke points, how do we reduce the hassle factor, make private markets/alternatives easier to consume, while at the same time, not really diluting or reducing the exposure or potential to deliver – those benefits of private markets,” explained my colleague, Doug Krupa, CFA, on an iCapital and Alt Goes Mainstream podcast. Earlier this week, I traveled to Omaha to speak at a meeting with the CFA Society Nebraska.
