It had been a few years since our last dinner with Renen Hallak, all the way back before the pandemic. Under Renen's leadership, VAST Data has grown into a company valued at $9 billion. We are truly thrilled and honored that ASG has been able to accompany Vast Data on its journey to this point.   Over the past three years, Vast Data has attracted the partnership of many major players who has a keen focused on AI. The company’s latest initiative, the Cosmos community, has garnered support from NVIDIA, xAI, Cisco, Supermicro, Dremio, Deloitte, among others. Their rapid momentum has us eagerly anticipating what lies ahead for Vast Data, a company well poised to secure a critical position within its ecosystem.   We were privileged to join a dinner with Renen last week. During our conversation, Renen, this humble and down-to-earth founder, warmly shared his reflections. He spoke about the journey of scaling the company from 300 to 900 employees in just two years, all while preserving the culture, his unwavering commitment to high standards in HR, and his patient dedication in waiting for years for the absolutely right key members.   We asked what are the hard decision he has made in this journey. Renen said: "There is no hard decision. The hard decision is to start the company. Then, every time I face a decision, I ask myself: what’s good for our customer and what’s good for the company ten years from now. Then there is no more hard decision, it becomes very clear what the decision should be. The challenge lies in executing that right decision, as it almost always demands taking the more difficult path."   After the dinner, just like our last dinner years ago, Renen caught a bus home.

A very action-packed week!   This past weekend, Alpha Square Group cohosted an AI reasoning dinner with our friends Rocky Yu at AGI House and Mark Weber at Tectonic Ventures. The team hosted 20+ brightest minds from Cambridge Including leading scientists, entrepreneurs, executives, investors, hackers, community activists, and up-and-coming students. We are very honored to have MIT professors like David Mindell, Paul Liang, Rosalind Picard, Song Han, Yoon Kim join us.   We're impressed by the innovation happening in Cambridge and look forward to building a stronger community with the AI enthusiast in the future!

Last week, Alpha Square Group cohosted an AI for Enterprise panel to discuss current developments and challenges deploying AI in the enterprise.
