Happy first week of school to all the parents out there! The week is almost over, and if you're reading this, that means you survived! 🎉 This week, I sent my oldest daughter, Victoria, to her first day of Pre-K3, and wow, it was an emotional rollercoaster – not just for her, but especially for me! Yesterday was tough; I won’t sugarcoat it. I was overwhelmed, emotional, and honestly, I didn’t have the best day. But as I reflect, I want to send a message to all the working professionals—especially the moms and dads who might have been in the same boat yesterday (and today, since they say the second day can be even tougher! It definitely was for us). 🌟 Here are a few gentle reminders: 1. You are human. It’s okay to feel your emotions, whether at work or at home. By embracing your own feelings, you’re teaching your kids it’s normal to feel things deeply too. 2. You won’t be 100% productive every single day. And that’s okay! Some days are harder than others, and it doesn’t change who you are or your value. 3. Take care of yourself first. Whether it's in your career or personal life, the more fulfilled and balanced you feel, the better your overall performance. It may seem counterintuitive, but stepping away for a break or a deep breath will make a big difference. Trust me – I’ve been on both sides, and it works. Take that extra-long lunch break if you need it. You've got this! To all the strong professional women out there: sometimes we try to hold in our emotions to avoid seeming "overly emotional" – but it’s okay to feel! It’s okay to be sad or not at your best today. Acknowledge that, and give yourself some grace. In Korean, my daughter says “toh-dak toh-dak” – gentle taps on the back – when I’m feeling tired or down, just like I’ve done for her since she was very little. So today, give yourself a little “toh-dak toh-dak.” You deserve it. 💛
