The November 2024 edition of research Florida By The Numbers is now available. Florida Chamber Foundation Senior Research Economist Sheridan Morby takes us on an exclusive journey through the Florida 2030 Blueprint, specifically highlighting some of the latest metrics that matter to securing Florida's future as a top 10 global economy by 2030. Some of the metrics covered in this update include: From the Innovation & Economic Development Pillar - According to latest data, Florida saw net state-to-state migration of 126,000 in 2023, the second highest in the country behind Texas. However, net out migration was also second highest in the country. The median age of those moving in is higher than those moving out. Outmigration is highest in the age range of 20 to 29, and there is an uptick in homeowners and those with higher educational attainment moving into the state, most in the 60 to 69 age range. New tourism figures from VISIT FLORIDA show that Florida continues to have record visitation, led by domestic visitors, with Q3 of 2024 seeing the highest Q3 numbers on record, up nearly 2% from last year. From the Talent Supply & Education Pillar - The out migration of 20-29 year olds in Florida is contributing to a reduced labor force participation rate, which the current workforce is feeling the impact of as wealth migrates in and workforce migrates out. Florida saw a monthly dip in jobs in October for the first time in years, however Florida still added over 130,000 jobs annually. Unemployment has remained steady at 3.3% for seven months, and below the national unemployment rate for four consecutive years. From the Infrastructure & Growth Leadership Pillar - Single-family home sales were down over 12% annually in October, some attributing this to the impact of Hurricane Helene in late September. Single-family home sale prices have remained steady, up only 0.2% year over year. From the Business Climate & Competitiveness Pillar - Annual inflation saw a small increase this month, now 2.6% at the national level. The Federal Reserve is still expected to cut interest rates in December by 0.5 points, which won't have an immediate impact on consumers, but typically a delayed impact on borrowing costs. https://lnkd.in/ed44zb_V
