We’re excited to share that one of our submarine cable technicians received an award from one of our customers this week. Scott Shier received third place in our customer’s “Person of the Year” award program for the important role he plays in maintaining efficient operations. Scott demonstrates an in-depth understanding of their network and uses his expertise to ensure it runs smoothly without disruptions. He also went above and beyond proposing several initiatives to enhance our customer’s efficiency, including streamlining processes and implementing new tools for better network management. We love how he demonstrates so many of our core values, like being customer focused, team first and owning his results, while serving our customer. Way to go, Scott!

In honor of #InternationalVolunteerDay, we’re highlighting one of our favorite volunteers – Gunnar! We recognized this young Fairbanks resident this summer as part of our Summer of Heroes scholarship program. From a young age, Gunnar has chosen to forgo birthday presents, instead collecting cash and supplies to donate to the local animal shelter. His generous contributions not only support the shelter but also raise awareness about the importance of giving back. Casey Wistrand (left) and Shayne Burnem represented us at the Oregon Fishermen's Cable Committee’s booth at Pacific Marine Expo recently. They provided education about safely sharing the seafloor to the audience of commercial mariners from Alaska to California. This advocacy helps ensure fishermen understand where submarine cables are located, how to avoid damaging them and how to report potential snagging incidents.
