  • From All of Us at aLanguageBank to You... When we redefined our mission statement earlier this year as “forging communication between people from different cultures and languages,” we reaffirmed a critical truth: empathy, compassion, and goodwill are uniquely human qualities that no machine can replicate. AI may enhance and accelerate our efforts, but it cannot achieve meaningful communication without the human touch. As we embrace technological advancements and adapt to automated workflows, humanity remains at the heart of what makes our work meaningful. With this in mind, we move forward with confidence, knowing that fostering connection and understanding among people will always be our mission.

From our Managing Partner and Co-founder Peiwen Shih: The Greek philosopher Heraclitus famously said, “The only constant in life is change,” over 2,500 years ago—a truth that resonates even more today in our AI-driven world. Artificial intelligence has long been a part of the language industry, even before it became a buzzword in recent years. Tools like computer-assisted translation (CAT) have been instrumental in storing translations and recycling them when similar syntax appears in a new context. While some industry experts view this irreversible trend with optimism, others worry about the possibility of machines replacing human linguists entirely.
