This week, the AIS Doctoral Student College hosted the Doctoral Student Corner at ICIS – The International Conference on Information Systems. We want to begin with a huge thank you to everyone who made these events possible with us! We kicked off on Sunday 15th with our Welcome Reception & Award Ceremony 🏆🎓, creating a welcoming space for doctoral students to connect 🤝, celebrate achievements ✨, and set the stage for meaningful interactions at the conference. The following day, our Faculty Panel 🎙️ featured five esteemed faculty members discussing “Finding Your Community: Building Connections and Collaborations in IS as a PhD Student,” offering practical strategies for building meaningful professional networks. That evening, the College Executive team held the Annual General Meeting, reflecting on the year’s accomplishments and announcing election results. On Tuesday 17th, the Faculty Roundtable 💬 gathered fourteen junior and senior faculty members to discuss the theme, “Does Persistence Pay Off? Managing Challenges and Pressures in PhD Studies” with students. Finally, the Student Hangout & Conclusion provided an opportunity to share conference highlights and celebrate new friendships 🌟. In addition, the Doctoral Student Corner Lounge 🛋️☕ proved to be a valuable space for doctoral students to unwind and connect with peers amid the busy conference days. Thank you to our faculty mentors Savanid (Nui) Vatanasakdakul, Noorminshah A.Iahad, Jingguo Wang, Roman Beck, Andrew Burton-Jones, Benedikt Berger, Timo Sturm, Ying Liu, Ronnie Jia, Markus Salo, Atreyi Kankanhalli, Jan vom Brocke, Matti Rossi, Kunsoo Han, Leona Chandra Kruse, Dirk S. We also extend our gratitude to the ICIS 2024 organizers 🙏 for hosting us and supporting the Doctoral Student Corner events. A special thank you goes to the amazing Association for Information Systems team 💖 whose support before and during the conference made these events possible. Finally, our sincere thank you to our sponsors at Aalto University School of Business, UNC Greensboro (ISSCM), The University of Georgia, and the University of Massachusetts Amherst, without whose support hosting the Corner events would not have been possible.
