The Aiga team shares a weekly "Climate Minute" where we discuss a relevant topic related to Climate Change, the Energy Transition or Sustainable Infrastructure. This week, we discussed the International Energy Agency's 2024 forecast. 2024 will mark the first year that clean technology investments will be double that of fossil fuels. This is even more remarkable considering that 2023 was the first year that clean tech investments surpassed fossil fuels. While the IEA forecasts is amazing news (see IEA excerpt below and Canary Media story that follows) there is still a meaningful gap to get to the investment needed to meet NetZero mandates. As reported by the Atlantic, "in 2023, we added 32 GW of clean electricity to the U.S. grid in the form of new solar, battery storage, wind, and nuclear. It was a record - but it was still only about 2/3 of what's necessary to stay on track with the IRA's goal of reducing emissions by 40% by 2030."
