Tyms is becoming a full-fledged AI Agent in January 2025 🎊 One of the pain points we have observed from our interactions with Tyms users and from their requests through this year, is that no one wants to be spending time working on an Accounting software anymore. One major requests we kept getting, both from Nigerian and foreign accountants and business owners is, "can I just upload my pdf bank statement and generate my income statement? I don't want to have to be posting the transactions, can your AI just do all that automatically, and all I need to do is just upload the pdf statement, and immediately generate my income statement?" We are very excited to say that the above requests, and lots more will be available on Tyms v3.0 a.k.a Tyms AI a.k.a Adam, which will be going fully live in January 2025 🎉🎉 Tyms AI is an AI Agent that works as an Accounting Assistant, doing everything from posting your transactions for you, to running 100s of autonomous activities in the background and notifying you of any relevant action needed. On Tyms AI, you will be able to generate and manage specific dashboards and tables unique to your business use-case. And, more importantly, anyone will be able to use Tyms AI, from Accountants to business owners to solopreneurs and everyone in-between, as all you need to do is just communicate with your AI Assistant in simple words (via the webapp, WhatsApp or emails), and it will understand what you need and carry out your tasks for you. What's more? You don't need to migrate to Tyms to enjoy all these, as Tyms AI will be able to communicate with your existing accounting softwares (Quickbooks, Zoho, Xero...) Tyms AI is here to change the game completely, and our Engineers are hard at work this holiday period to make sure we have this ready by January 2025! 🎊 If you will like early access to Tyms AI, kindly send me a DM ✅️ **Compliments of the season🎄 Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas 🎅 and a prosperous 2025 🎊

On Thursday, some of our team members had the privilege of attending Art Of Technology Lagos 6.0. The theme this year was ‘AI and the Lagos Digital Economy’, exploring the many opportunities in Artificial Intelligence and how AI is transforming Lagos and shaping the future. One of our key takeaways was from the breakout session, where one of the panelists said “Beyond the hype around AI, what we should focus on is how to drive value through this development. Being able to identify stakeholders in the AI sector and making sure they are at the forefront of this development will reduce the hype and convert it to actionable results that can bring real solutions”. Indeed, the possibilities of AI development transforming Lagos into a digital economy are vast, and now, more than ever, is the best time for startups, builders, and creators in the tech space to embrace AI and fully adopt it. Truly, we can’t face today’s challenges with yesterday’s knowledge. #AOT6 #ArtofTechnologyLagos #aot2024 #TechInnovation #DigitalEconomy #AIRevolution

In 2004, Tobias Lütke just wanted to sell snowboards online. He wasn't trying to build an e-commerce empire. But when he tried setting up his store (Snowdevil), he hit a wall. The existing e-commerce software was terrible. Clunky. Expensive. Impossible to customize. So Lütke, a programmer, did something unusual: he scratched his own itch. He spent two months coding a better solution. That side project became more interesting than the snowboard business. The numbers tell the story: 2006: Launched Shopify 2007: Total revenue: $8,000 2015: IPO at $1.3B valuation 2022: Powering 2.1M businesses worldwide But here's the part most people miss: Shopify wasn't just battling bad software. They were fighting a deeply held belief that small merchants couldn't compete with Amazon. Their contrarian bet? The future of retail wasn't one store to rule them all. It was millions of independent merchants with their own brands and stories. The early years were brutal. Merchants would ask: "Why not just sell on Amazon?" Lütke's response changed commerce: "Do you want to rent customers or own them?" This shifted the conversation from transactions to relationships. From marketplace dependency to brand independence. The transformation was incredible: Shopify became the merchant champion. They didn't just provide software – they armed the rebels in the retail revolution. They built tools that gave small brands Amazon-level infrastructure: - Fulfillment networks - Payment processing - Capital financing - Marketing automation Key lessons for founders: 1. The best products often start as solutions to personal problems. But scaling them requires seeing the bigger market need. 2. Product-founder fit matters. Lütke's background as a programmer meant he could build the initial solution. His experience as a merchant meant he understood the problem deeply. 3. Sometimes the bigger opportunity is adjacent to your original idea. The snowboard store failed. The software to run it became a $35B company. 4. Position against the industry giant by championing independence. Shopify never tried to be Amazon. They empowered everyone else instead. Most fascinating? Shopify still runs the original snowboard store's code somewhere in their git repository. A reminder that billion-dollar companies can start with a simple question: "There has to be a better way to do this, right?"
