You may notice a difference in this page soon. Over the past several months we have been slowly rolling out our updated identity. The District Architecture Center has housed AIA|DC and the Washington Architectural Foundation since 2011. As the boards of each of these organizations worked more together, they discovered they both cared about sharing the power of architecture. Rather than parse their differences, the boards voted in 2023 to join forces under the District Architecture Center. Both organizations will still exist, with separate boards and separate missions but they will come together under the shared vision of “empowering our communities to design a better future.” You have already seen the changes in the website with its new URL districtarchcenter.org. Our social media will also slowly morph into being District Architecture Center forward. As for the resources and programs you use, they will all still be there just under the District Architecture banner. We hope you will join in celebrating this bright new era for DAC.

About us
Founded in 1887, the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects serves the Nation's Capital, functioning as both the "local" and "state" component of the AIA for the District of Columbia. The Chapter was intimately involved in the design and planning of Washington, and continues to play an active role in city development today. AIA|DC is housed in the District Architecture Center (DAC), in the heart of DC’s bustling Penn Quarter District. DAC is where architecture meets the city. If you enjoy architecture, DAC is the place for you. DAC houses the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and the Washington Architectural Foundation.

Looking forward to our next #archmonth discussion on Danish and American perspectives on sustainability on October 16. Last week we looked at student projects and the Kennedy Center to the Mall design plan. Next week we turn our attention across the ocean to see how Danish architects incorporate sustainability. Lance Davis, FAIA, LEED Fellow, MSU Fellow will moderate and he and Tanya Eagle will represent the American perspective. Anna Muessig and Daniel Harald Baumann will present the Danish perspective. We're going to learn a lot! For more information or to register, just follow the link. https://lnkd.in/eWiPbBwm
