Originally designed with genuine terracotta baguettes for the brise-soleil, 300 Grant in San Francisco took advantage of faux facade options to execute the vision with a cost-effective approach. In coordination with the design team, we provided sketches and sample aluminum extrusions to build confidence across the project team and accelerate the decision to move forward with the faux terracotta finished aluminum baguettes. A win for sustainability, the facade weighed significantly less and therefore required less building materials to support its weight on the curtainwall. Curious about the National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) process? The NFRC certifies a window system’s thermal performance. The certification process involves two steps: a computer simulation of the system and glass makeup, followed by a physical mockup (79 inches by 79 inches) tested at an NFRC-accredited lab to confirm the simulated performance ratings. #EfficiencyDriven #DoingItRight

Design Team Spotlight Last month our Design Team hosted a two-day training seminar in Southern California. They kicked off the program with a job site walk at Harbor UCLA in Torrance, CA. Connecting the design team with the project execution in the field is critical to furthering innovation in our curtainwall systems, and collaboration processes.
