“Something truly special” There is a 7-year-old boy who, along with his family, has been struggling with a PANDAS/PANS (Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) diagnosis. After navigating through a series of denials (as is often the case with this diagnosis), appeal letters, and authorization requests, he was finally approved.   When the Advanced Infusion Care (AIC) team shared the news with the family, the mother was overjoyed and “over the moon,” as she put it. And when AIC called the hospital to share the news, staff members in the office cheered, a reaction that added a whole new perspective on the impact of our work. We often hear stories about the relief and joy that patients and their families feel when an approval comes through, but hearing about a doctor’s office erupting in cheers was something truly special. This collaboration, along with the relentless efforts of all teams (AIC, the hospital staff, and the family) working through countless appeals, has resulted in a significant victory for everyone, but most importantly for this amazing 7-year-old and his family who are now on their way to recovery.

Next week is Healthcare Quality Week, so we’d like to recognize the dedication of our Targeted Drug Delivery (TDD) and Advanced Infusion Care (AIC) divisions. Both teams consist of professionals committed to providing the highest level of patient care. At the center of our TDD operation are our two state-of-the-art 503A specialty compounding pharmacies, both of which are designed to produce medications of the utmost quality. Our AIC division is dually accredited by Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
