The "Christmas Chaos Continues" - Chaos is officially the perfect word to describe the Corporate Transparency Act (#CTA). On Thursday, a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit panel issued an order to vacate Monday’s order made by a different panel in the same court. Thursday’s order blocks CTA enforcement, which now means that CTA reporting to #FinCEN is once again voluntary. Required #BOI reporting has been suspended until the matter continues its way through the court system. Our corporate services attorneys Sean Buckley and Brian Smithweck continue to cover the CTA with the latest breaking news >> https://lnkd.in/gxD464jx #FifthCircuit #CorporateTransparencyAct #BusinessReporting #ReportingCompanies #CorporateServices

"Fighting Homelessness" - In our December 2024 #VetstoVentures article, Adams and Reese attorney Steven Moritz provides pro bono and legal aid resources to help our Veterans overcome homelessness situations. More than 35,000 Veterans are homeless in the U.S. However, there are many legal resources available to Veterans, and there are also pro bono opportunities in which attorneys can help reduce the homeless problem. For example, Steven volunteers with The Beacon of Downtown Houston to provide pro bono services to #Houston Veterans facing homelessness issues. Steven discusses his experience assisting Vets and shares opportunities of how attorneys can volunteer >> https://lnkd.in/gZiAcD4N #Homeless #Military #Veterans #Army #Navy #Marines #ArmedForces #ProBono #LegalAid #ARintheCommunity

"Christmas Chaos" - The Corporate Transparency Act (#CTA) filing requirements have been reinstated following a Fifth Circuit decision, which overturns the Texas District Court's nationwide injunction three weeks ago. Reporting Companies, as defined in the CTA, are now required to report their Beneficial Ownership Information (#BOI) to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, US Treasury. Reporting Companies that were created or registered prior to Jan. 1, 2024, have until Jan. 13, 2025, to file. These companies would otherwise have been required to report by Jan. 1, 2025. "Santa's Helpers" - In breaking news, the Montana Supreme Court delivered a climate change miracle to 16 youth plaintiffs holding that the State of Montana violated their constitutional rights to a clean environment. Adams and Reese #Environmental Team Leader Rob Fowler and Litigation Practice Group Leader Jeff Trotter discuss the court's landmark decision. The court found that Montana’s failure to consider the global climate change impacts of greenhouse gas emissions from oil, gas, and coal projects under the Montana Environmental Procedure Act (MEPA) was unconstitutional.
