About us
Action Greensboro is a nonprofit that champions projects aimed at enhancing the city’s quality of life, civic engagement, and educational advancement and attracting and retaining young people in Greensboro. Our operating expenses are underwritten by six Greensboro foundations, and our plan of work is established by soliciting the ideas and concerns of Greensboro’s citizens and leaders in business, higher education and municipal government. In collaboration with these constituents, we work in a variety of ways to strengthen Greensboro’s economy and ensure the continuation of its excellent quality of life. How can you encourage people to return to your city? Ex-Greensboro natives were sent personalised boxes filled with locally sources treats, updates on the revitalisation work, and a custom cost-of-living comparison against their current residence. So far, these time capsules of Greensboro’s progress have encouraged 85 families to ‘boomerang’ back to put down roots in the city. A great initiative from Action Greensboro - and won that deservedly won Best Communication Strategy - Economic Development at the 2024 #CNPAwards! Interested to learn more? From Wilmington to Asheville, 35 new employers have received the Family Forward NC® Employer Certification. This brings our total number of certified employers to 107, employing 40,600 workers. Of these, 19 are women and/or minority-owned/led.
