ACCESS Health International actively participated in the 8th Global Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR2024), held in Nagasaki. The symposium provided a platform for us to present its research, innovative frameworks, and actionable strategies to address global health challenges. Our contributions included oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, and strategic planning sessions, emphasizing health system resilience, evidence-based policymaking, and sustainable development. The oral presentations highlighted two significant studies. The first, titled “Estimating the Normative Cost of Delivering Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Package in India”, emphasized the importance of normative costing in standardizing services, identifying resource gaps, and advocating for investment to improve efficiency, equity, and health outcomes. The second, titled “Development of a Toolkit to Measure Health Systems Resilience: Application of a Modified Delphi Method”, introduced a toolkit for measuring health systems resilience, developed using a rigorous Delphi method. Our poster presentations covered diverse and impactful topics, from the application of modeled evidence in India to private sector engagement under PMJAY, and intersectoral collaboration for urban health resilience to community-based health literacy interventions. We also presented the One Health approach for disaster preparedness and a pilot study using data-driven methods to assess health system resilience. We participated in a panel on translating research into actionable policies, sharing strategies for stakeholder engagement, and evidence-informed decision-making. In a fireside chat, we contributed to discussions on strengthening HPSR collaborations across the Asia-Pacific region, promoting routine engagement among HPSR networks, advocating for unified representation at global health forums, and addressing sustainable financing for health policy research. As part of the HPSRI accelerator capacity-building session, we co-led a breakout group to explore implementation research in primary healthcare. The session engaged policymakers and HPSR leaders in identifying barriers and developing strategies to bridge the gap between research and policy application. Additionally, we presented innovative approaches in specialized areas. We shared insights on integrating health systems with disaster preparedness using a One Health framework, presented findings from a pilot study employing exploratory data analysis to evaluate and strengthen health system resilience, and also the findings from a scoping review on community-based non-communicable disease health literacy interventions in Chhattisgarh, India. By showcasing research, engaging in strategic discussions, and fostering collaborations, we reaffirmed our commitment to building resilient, equitable, and sustainable health systems. #HealthSystems #HSR2024 #GlobalHealth #HealthPolicy #HealthEquity #OneHealth #PrimaryHealthcare
