In this Wave of Discovery, we celebrate a landmark innovation in neurosurgery: the creation of the Brown-Roberts-Wells stereotactic frame in 1979. This breakthrough, which brought sub-millimeter precision to brain targeting, was the result of the perfect convergence of CT scanning advancements and stereotactic ingenuity. A pivotal moment occurred when third-year medical student Russ Brown, guided by radiologist Jim Nelson, devised a brilliant solution using simple geometry—a diagonal addition to the stereotactic frame known as the N-localizer. This transformation turned 2D CT slices into 3D coordinates, revolutionizing neurosurgical precision. Witness Jacques Morcos reflect on this and other transformative moments in the latest video of our series. https://ow.ly/9XB750UztSB
