During Alexander’s Unveiling Roots session with Kirsti Farrow, the volunteer genealogist who built his family tree, he discovered a powerful truth. Alexander’s third great-grandfather, Henry Youree, an enslaved man, served in the Confederate Army in Tennessee as a body servant to William B. Bates, who would later become the 23rd governor of the state. Kirsti explains what it truly meant for an enslaved man to be called a ‘loyal servant’ to the Confederacy. Today, Henry’s biography will be honored on the website of the Battle of Franklin Trust, ensuring his story is never forgotten. If Alexander hadn’t embarked on this journey, Henry’s life and legacy wouldn’t have been remembered in such a significant way. When asked how he felt after learning this, Alexander simply said: ‘Liberated.’ Are you ready to do the work? https://lnkd.in/eMzbBtAF - Henry's story now on the Battle of Franklin Trust Check out a clip from Alexander’s Session Below: https://lnkd.in/eDn-W7e9
