When we set out on this journey in 2020 we didn't know what was going to happen? Think about it, when was the last time you saw the President of the United States release someone from prison? Its like winning the lottery, it just doesn't happen! A needle in a hay stack. A hail Mary! Well, before we knew ANYTHING and was dealing with the situation of our friend of 27 years at the time, now 30 years, being locked up over a nonviolent cannabis offense for LIFE! Thats right.....#LIFEINPRISONFORAPLANT! We made this documentary! We ended up never putting it out due to some difficulty by the people we were working with at the time. However, we will be releasing it soon once we finish filming the second half of the story! So, look out for that in 2024. But we did make a trailer for it! This was our first real video that showed who we were, and the why behind our mission! Turn the volume up because the sound design on this is TOP NOTCH! Prior to Cannabis, our COO Anthony Alegrete, M.A.O.L. had a background in film production, and wanted to showcase his Executive Producer / co-directing skills in this 13 minute mini documentary. We had no idea what would become of 40 Tons. We just knew that if we put one foot forward there was a strong possibility that we got our friend of out prison. This piece of work was truly a passion project and we are grateful for the 4 man team we had to produce it. Walid, Skyler, Emerson, and Anthony! We also cant forget about our editor Steven would nailed it! This video showcases the hypocrisy of Cannabis! Some are locked up for the very same thing we all get to do for a living and build wealth on. It just doesn't seem fair! Does it? Anyhow, as we approach the Super Bowl of Cannabis Conventions MJBizCon its a full circle moment for us. We get to host a massive letter writing campaign letting the Cannabis incarcerated know we have not forgotten about them. Please enjoy! Like, comment, share, and subscribe to our YouTube channel. And to all the creators out there, lets work! Let's do a project! We own all the equipment and have the expertise to produce television show level content. #FreeTheCannabisPrisoners #FreeThe40K #NoOneShouldBeInPrisonForCannabis

40 Tons: From Justice Impact to Industry Impact "At the center of this paradox is 40 Tons, a social impact brand born out of the fight for justice and equity in cannabis. Named after the 40 tons of cannabis involved in the case that led to co-founder Corvain Cooper’s life sentence, the company’s mission is deeply personal. Cooper, whose sentence was commuted by President Trump in 2021, knows firsthand the devastating consequences of cannabis prohibition. Alongside co-founders Anthony and Loriel Alegrete, he has turned his story into a movement, advocating for those still incarcerated and those struggling to find opportunity in the legal industry." Thank you so much Kenya Alexander-Davis and Fat Nugs Magazine for this amazing article on our company. This is the first piece of major press we got from Equity Row! Thank you! We appreciate it! Its always the culture that supports the culture. You'd think we would have got picked up by all the other major press outlets! Nah! Its crazy to think about the impact we had on the entire MJBizCon conference to not get picked up! Oh well! We just keep going! And besides, its not about the press coverage. We don't do it for that! But recognition is nice. We have to support one another! And that's what equity row was all about! Supporting each other and giving each other access! Thank you Kenya and Fat Nugs! We appreciate you. 🙏 https://lnkd.in/g5GP9j99

President Biden’s recent clemency for over 1,500 individuals, including nearly 40 nonviolent drug offenders, is a solid move in the right direction—and we’re here for it. It’s a step toward justice, a nod to second chances, and a recognition of how the system has unfairly targeted marginalized communities. But let’s be real: this is just the beginning. There are still too many people locked up over a plant while cannabis has grown into a billion-dollar industry. The disparity is clear, and it’s time to close the gap. At 40 Tons, we’re calling for more bold moves. Clemency is a start, but true reform means going deeper—ending mandatory minimums, investing in rehabilitation, and releasing all nonviolent cannabis offenders. People who’ve served their time deserve the chance to rebuild their lives and contribute to their communities without stigma or barriers. As Frederika M. Easley, MCBA President, put it: “We hope to see more of this from President Biden with the remaining time he has in office. There are so many people serving time for a plant that is now a billion dollar industry due to disproportionate policing and stacked sentencing. I would say now, President Biden truly understands how a system and people in power can unfairly impact one’s life and ability to productively engage in society.” We’re here for justice, equity, and real change—let’s make it happen. Join us in signing our letter to the president! (More to come on that in coming days) Lets convince the president he can still do the right thing and with the stroke of a pen grant clemency’s to these cannabis offenders.

Canna Christmas holds a deeply personal place in my heart. Not long ago, I was navigating the challenges of being a mother with an incarcerated husband. I remember the pain of trying to make the holidays special for my children, even when resources and support were scarce. Those memories fuel my passion to ensure no child feels forgotten during this special time of year. Through Canna Christmas, we’ve turned that pain into purpose. Last Canna Xmas, we raised $9,000+ for families and collected hundreds of toys, all thanks to the incredible generosity of our community. This year, we aim to make an even greater impact. Space is limited to 50 people. Canna Christmas isn’t just an event—it’s a way for people to give back during the holidays in a meaningful , while sharing community. A celebration of resilience, compassion, and hope. Together, we’re lifting up the children of incarcerated parents, showing them that they are seen, loved, and supported. Join us for an intimate evening in spreading the holiday spirit: - Bring a toy worth $25 to light up a child’s face. - Donate $25 to help create unforgettable memories. I am endlessly grateful to everyone who makes this event possible. Let’s continue to come together, give back, and make a difference. Because every child deserves to feel the magic of the season. 40 Tons Brand reposted this
Looking back at last week, my heart is filled with gratitude. 💛 MJBizCon was an incredible success, but if you only knew the sheer effort it took to make Equity Row a reality, you’d be amazed. It’s a testament to what grit, determination, and community can achieve. We got approval for Equity Row just 6-7 weeks before the event, which put me in full scramble mode. From crafting sponsorship decks to cover hard costs, to locking in 16 companies, coordinating designs, audio/visual, marketing, and handling last-minute travel plans—it was a whirlwind! Despite the challenges (Murphy’s law in full effect—hello fire marshals and late-night carpentry issues 🙃), we pushed through. Literally, what could go wrong did and on multiple fronts. It wasn’t easy. But this is where GRIT kicks in. Vendors still needed to be paid while sponsorships trickled in. But with unwavering resolve, a creative team, and the incredible Yoni Reinharz and Mariesa Sun-Saenz who launched a crowdfunding campaign in the final stretch, we made it happen. 🙏 To our supporters: YOU made the magic real. Your contributions allowed us to create a space for justice-impacted companies to shine, tell stories of incarcerated individuals, and even send postcards to those still behind bars. We conducted over 30 interviews with industry leaders, and while tech issues tried to derail us, the mission carried us forward. 💪 Thank you HPI Canna Cova Software New Leaf EA Corporation New Holland Group BRĒZ No Coast Wellness Azuca Normalize Marketplace Katan Associates International and the rest of the groups that helped. Thank you to Safiyah Kadoura, Ishqa Hillman, and Inara Tayao-Lucero for coordinating the volunteers and making sure we had folks at the booth to work it. Thank you to the MJBizCon team, Emilie Lewis Sarah Wilson Samantha Villegas Lauren Halferty Brittany Wudrick Harrison Radie, MBA and the rest of the team! But I have to give an INCREDIBLE BIG SHOUT to Kelly Riddle for without you none of this would have happened! I personally thank you so much for bringing our vision to the team. It means the world to me! To all my tireless team members, and every sponsor, donor, and supporter who believed in us. Together, we created access, opportunity, and hope for a brighter future in cannabis. 🌱 This journey reminds me: Just because someone carries it well doesn’t mean it isn’t heavy. (That's for sure.....lol) But with community, nothing is impossible. Recap video coming soon!

Extra, Extra! Read All About It! Our latest press release highlights the incredible work we’re doing at MJBizCon! “At 40 Tons, we believe in sharing the platform we’ve worked hard to build. Times are tough, and it’s critical that we provide support to those who have faced systemic challenges,” said Loriel Alegrete, CEO and Co-founder of 40 Tons Brand. Equity Row: More Than Just a Section of a Conference #EquityRow is an initiative designed to create a platform for justice-impacted cannabis businesses—where founders or their close family members have experienced incarceration for cannabis-related offenses. This groundbreaking activation not only honors those who have sacrificed for the #cannabis plant but also creates opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs to take part in the flourishing cannabis industry. It’s a unique space for investors, supply chain partners, and vendors to connect with innovative and resilient companies ready to make their mark. Corvain Cooper, our Co-founder and Chief Brand Ambassador, expressed his gratitude for the partnership with MJBizCon, saying: "Last year, we brought a life-sized prison cell to the conference to highlight the hypocrisy of an industry profiting from the same plant that has caused people to be locked away for decades. This year, we’re grateful that MJBizCon has recognized our mission and is helping us pay it forward by supporting other justice-impacted brands." Come find us at Booth 7811 and discover the incredible companies sharing this space with us. Your Support Is Still Needed: This activation comes with significant hard costs, and our small foundation has taken them on without corporate backing. It’s not too late to support this initiative. Every contribution helps us bring these critical stories to the forefront. Please consider supporting us at https://lnkd.in/gk9ysBeB. Together, we can create real change in the cannabis industry and beyond! Thank you to all our sponsors and our title sponsor: HPI Canna
