When I make a mistake at work, I focus on handling it responsibly and learning from it. First, I stay calm and assess the situation to understand what went wrong, which helps me approach it with clarity instead of stress. Then, I openly acknowledge the error and take responsibility, sharing an actionable plan to fix it. This shows accountability and reassures others that I'm committed to solving the issue. Afterward, I reflect on the experience to identify what I can learn and how I can improve. This approach allows me to grow from setbacks and move forward confidently without dwelling on the past.

A mistake takes place either due to lack of knowledge or due to mismanagement of work. So when a mistake happens first thing to do would be to check how the same can be rectified or fixed as it may effect other tasks lined up. Once the fixture has been done then one can focus on investigating how the event occurred and what can be learned out of the same. The knowledge part will help in avoiding the mistakes from reoccurring in future.

If time permits, I'll rectify the mistake as soon as possible. Otherwise, I'll be transparent about it - admit my mistakes and apologize. Sometimes, I may get some nasty feedback but hey... we are all human!! Accepting that we are not perfect is the first step to keeping our peace of mind :D

I have always found that when a mistake has been made the first thing to do is take ownership. Second decide what actions need to be taken for resolution and better education.

Own it. Let your peace of mind come from speaking the truth, taking responsibility, never having to pretend to be someone else ("perfect") that you are not. The most powerful place to be. Say what happened, talk about how you contributed, talk about how BECAUSE of it you'll get better and make things better. Think of this as your initiation into leadership. People who dare to make decisions, take actions, make mistakes, learn from them and improve are the ones who lead the world forward. It's not a path for everyone. It's a leadership path. And if you are already a leader, owning your mistakes in public cultivates a culture of trust where people aren't afraid to innovate to make things better (while making the inevitable "mis-takes")
