Whatever you do, you need to be intentional. Have a Target in mind and take regular steps to execute towards that Target. I think a lot of people like to focus on doing something, rather than doing something intentional. If you want to do it on your own, spend the time to make sure you focus on those Target demographics. If you hire someone, make sure those people are asking you the right questions to help you focus on those targets. It might feel awkward as they keep asking questions, but the good ones keep asking until they have something workable to focus online.

In my humble thoughts, you have to offer free information and education. Establish yourself as an expert in your field, and people will find you and your small business. Make sure you update your blog on a regular basis, and if you can't do it, hire someone who can. The more the public sees your contributions the more you will resonate as an expert and they will knock down your doors when they need what you specialize in.
