Choose certain materials which are a one time buy, sustainable and environment friendly. There are many materials (still need to be looked upon and researched on) which can be used to prevent the use of various resources capable of destroying the environment.

The only thing which makes aviation more sustainable for the coming 10 years is less flying. The second best thing is electric aircraft, and the third best thing are biofuels.

Here are my thoughts to make the aerospace supply chain more sustainable: - Move from linear manufacturing to a circular model focused on reusing, repairing, and recycling materials and components. - Leverage AI and blockchain for transparent supply chains, optimized routes, minimal waste, and ethical material sourcing. - Partner with logistics providers to use sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) or electrified transport to cut carbon emissions in shipping. - Encourage more universities, like Cranfield University with its short courses on sustainable aviation, to collaborate with industry leaders on joint research projects. This ensures that cutting-edge ideas transition seamlessly from academia to real-world applications.

To ensure sustainability in the aerospace supply chain, I would focus on continuous research and development in atmospheric and materials sciences to create eco-friendly propulsion systems, lightweight materials, and sustainable manufacturing processes. By integrating advanced quantum computing, we can optimize resource utilization and reduce waste, while exploring renewable energy sources for aircraft operations. Collaborating with global research initiatives and adopting circular economy principles will further promote recycling and the responsible disposal of aerospace components, ensuring that sustainability is woven into every stage of the supply chain—from design to decommissioning.

Aerospace is green and sustainable by controlling by-product emissions by aircraft. One best way is to stop using inorganic chemistry to drive aerospace instead use all electric power and remove pneumatic, mechanical power, and hydraulic power.

Supply Chain for Aerospace indicates post sustainment support for existing infrastructure. So there are two schools of thought product and goods for supporting existing maintenance. Then there is the supply chain methodology. Greener could be anything from transforming service and delivery fleet to greener or recycle solution? Referb old equipment or replace? Certifications, Company investment and ROI will drive decision in the end. New products, reliability testing and certification QA standards are not cheep to support Aerospace. Making products that can be reversed and service life extension is most cost effective. For newer air vehicles the greener solutions should be baked in from inception for efficiency in new infrastructure
-
To green the aerospace supply chain, adopt recyclable and lightweight materials to reduce emissions and waste. Optimize manufacturing with energy-efficient technologies and AI for better resource management. Collaborate with eco-certified suppliers, adopt circular economy principles, and promote renewable energy use in production and logistics to ensure sustainability.
