First is to understand the key objectives of the business. Work closely with stakeholders to identify the most important data needed to achieve these goals. Ensure the data is clean, accurate, and easy to access by integrating it into a well-structured system. Build dashboards that provide clear insights and track progress on goals. Regularly review and update the BI system to stay aligned with changing business needs. By focusing on clear goals and reliable data, you can deliver meaningful results.

1) Get stakeholders of both business and data dept into a room and let them be heard. Try to understand what business representatives and IT colleagues really have to say and which goals matter for both sides. 2) Assess the potential impact of each data integration initiative vs potential effort to implement. Compare the initiatives based on e.g. ROI once you have both the value and cost of implementing each initiative in monetary value. Prioritize starting from the projects with the highest ROI.
-
Stop! Before you do anything, you must make sure that you actually understand what the business wants and needs by conducting a thorough requirements gathering process. Data integration is a technical problem, but that's the easy part. The hard part is translating the nebulous, imprecise, and sometimes even conflicting requests from the business into finite, precise, and actionable user stories. Think of any big project like you're running a marathon: It doesn't matter how hard you train, or how much you spend on high-tech running shoes; if you don't know where the starting and finishing lines are, nor the path you must follow between them, then you definitely won't win the race, and you might get disqualified, or never even finish at all.
