As a career coach for international nurses I have created my unique methodology the "Nurses Move System ©️" The goal is to move to a country that satisfy personal and professional needs to avoid migration failure! My System consists in 5 phases - Research - Plan - Move - Settle - Escalate You cannot Settle properly in your new workplace or in your new Community if you don't do your diligent work in the 3 previous phases and learning about the culture. You can do by yourself ot with the help of a coach. To Settle you need: - Explore and know your surroundings - Know Team Dynamics at work within the Business Culture - Know Group Dynamics in your new Community within the Culture - Avoid Overtime for a few months - Make yourself known

Some think that working hard outside of working hours provides a dynamic and responsive environment where it is believed to be an advantage for companies… Is it really so? Management basically involves acting not only reactively but especially proactively. On the other hand, companies need to attract talent by creating a more inclusive culture that leads to a fairer life and work balance. We can create individual strategies as stated above, but some institutional mentalities need to change accordingly..

Be aware that you need to invest some of your free time over a, let's say a period of several months, to get accustomed to new rules. It means, after for work time is finished, you need to spend time with locals. How? Take in-class courses for example. After it it will much easier to continue.

You need to understand the rules in your new environment. As they say if you are in Rome behave like a Roman. You have to invest your time to study the rules and comply. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. Every company has their own work culture. Study the work culture. There will be no room for complacency. Usually I will advice that you work for a while i.e. one month or two before relocating your family. That way you can study the work culture and balance it with your personal life; the initial teething problems will surface and you can solve them without much distractions.

Starting a new role in a new country at first requires a careful balancing act. If you are moving with a partner, they probably won't be working and whilst it is easy to get wrapped up in your new job you must also remember that your partner probably needs some company and stimulation as they may have had a lonely or quiet day. Seek out ex-pats who can introduce you to similar people who can settle you into a new environment but also use your free time to immerse yourself in the local culture and don't isolate yourself in the ex-pat bubble

Maintaining balance while working abroad can be challenging, but here are my points: 1. **Establish a Routine:** Set a daily schedule to bring some structure to your day. This helps in creating a sense of normalcy and predictability. 2. **Try to have a separate area for work to maintain a clear boundary between professional and personal life. 3.**Set Clear Boundaries:** Make sure you have clear boundaries for work hours and stick to them to avoid burnout. 4. **Stay Organized:** Use tools and apps to keep track of your tasks, deadlines, and appointments. 5. **Be Flexible:** Sometimes things won't go as planned, and that's okay. Being adaptable helps in managing stress and staying positive.

I try to keep the same work routines and focus as I had in my home country. Same grind during the work week, just different and more interesting weekends. I don't let my mind start thinking I'm on vacation because of the change in scenery.
