Advertising has always navigated ethics – common decency and decorum in understanding how your message is sent and will be interpreted. I'll give that sometimes advertising is like taking a bat and swinging it in the general direction of the audience to land as many hits as possible. On the other hand, social media is tuned to niches (no more bat-swinging, and so many more targeted campaigns to roll out it's not even funny). The point is, remember your consumer behavior ethics and work closely with your client. If it's bat-swinging, it's the perfect challenge to put out a great ad. If it's niched down and targeted, you already know who you're talking to, you'll have defined lines to make more informed creative decisions.
