Last week, my client shared frustration about team motivation. Instead of just addressing the surface issue, I asked, "What would legendary leadership look like to you?" Through deep listening, I discovered his real goal: building a legacy. We crafted a unique "Leadership Legacy Map" - now his team does monthly "Legacy Hours" where everyone shares their impact stories. His feedback: "You didn't just solve my problem, you helped me reimagine leadership." The secret? Listen for what they're not saying, then create solutions that surprise and inspire. That's how good coaching becomes unforgettable.

Listen carefully to client feedback and make sure you understand what they need. Offer simple, clear solutions that go beyond what they expect. Be well-prepared for every session and adjust your advice to fit their specific goals. Stay consistent, follow up on their progress, and show them you’re invested in their success. Keeping it straightforward and focused will help you do more than they anticipate.

For me, client feedback is a goldmine—a candid window into their world, giving me new ways to help them reflect, gain clarity, and move closer to their goals. If a session didn’t land as I hoped or they feel stuck, it’s my chance to pivot, get creative, and try something new—whether it’s sharing a tool, reframing a challenge, or changing how we structure our conversations. It’s not always easy to hear, but I see feedback as collaboration that helps us both grow. It builds trust, showing clients their voice matters and strengthening the partnership (which is foundational). At its core, feedback isn’t about fixing. It’s about discovery—finding small insights that create big impact for them, for me, and for the work we do together.

Regular feedback is a key component—I encourage clients to share their thoughts on our sessions so I can refine my approach to best support their growth.

Being on the side of your client is the most important thing. Not above, not under, just being equal. Secondly, try listening carefully and clarify what your client talking about.

Focus on active listening and ask open-ended questions to understand the client's needs deeply. Summarize their feedback to ensure alignment, then propose tailored, actionable solutions. Highlight any proactive steps you've taken beyond their requests. End by expressing gratitude and outlining clear next steps to demonstrate commitment to their success.
