A variety of strategies can be used 1)Immediate/ Delayed feedback: Depending on the exercise, feedback should be given immediately or after the specific exercise. 2)Avoid overcorrecting: This is a great way to ruin a student's confidence. I quickly learned this when I first started teaching. 3)Sandwich Feedback: One positive feedback- One constructive Feedback - One positive Feedback. A great strategy taught to me by one of my colleagues and it's a nice way to maintain student confidence while giving some useful feedback

Feedback is most relevant when it is timely and prompt. Also keeping the communication channels open helps in bridging the gap which is imperative in online teaching. Approachability of the faculty plays a key role too.

An example would be continuous reporting at least within the International Baccalaureate Programme . This is an effective way to provide immediate and effective constructive and coaching feedback. Aim to provide prompt, clear & specific feedback as soon as possible . Instead of vague comments ,provide detailed insights on what the student did well & what areas require attention This allows students to reflect on their performance while the material is still fresh in their minds. Use a positive & supportive tone in your feedback. Focus on growth & learning opportunities rather than solely pointing out weaknesses. Encourage an ongoing dialogue about feedback. This interaction can help clarify misunderstandings & foster a collaborative learning environment. Strive to provide a balance of praise & constructive criticism.Highlighting what they did well can boost their confidence & motivate them to tackle the challenges ahead.

Don’t hold off too long on giving feedback; a quicker response is always better while everything’s still fresh in their minds! Ensure to highlight specific things they nailed and areas they can work on. A simple “good job” doesn’t cut it, so try to be as detailed as possible. And of course, always wrap it up with a positive and encouraging note to keep them motivated and excited to keep going! 😊
